Chameleons are cold blooded reptiles that change colour to thier surroundings (also known as camouflage). There are 160 different types of chameleons which are mostly in Madagascar. Some chameleons are endangere due to habitat loss.
Chameleons vary in sizes, the smallest chameleon is the Brookesia Micra and the larges chameleon is the Furcifer Oustaleti. Chameleons like life in the forest and prefer to be near trees. They have 2 or 3 toes on each foot, and move slowly moving 1 limb at a time.
They have good eyesight and can find a small insect 10 metres away! Chameleons eat flies and other small insects. They can survive over 10 years of captivity. Did you know a chameleon's tail can come off and they can also regrow it?
